Dg Garcia

Biography

Meritorious Achievement MedalDg is a proud American born in Richmond, Virginia. She is the daughter of a retired U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sergeant and Special Education public school teacher. Over the years, she has had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout the United States and Europe. Her father instilled the value of service over self, and her mother ensured that education and knowledge were the keys to a greater understanding of our impact on others and the personal contributions we can make.

Dg continued her father's legacy and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, beginning her career right here at our very own Fairchild Air Force Base, in Spokane, as an Airman First Class, in 1980. She was later stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas and in 1986 she received the Meritorious Achievement Medal, for Heroism, after her courageous act of saving a trainee from suicide.

She is proud of the long, honorable, family tradition of military service and commitment to our country at home and abroad. Dg's source of pride endures as her son's patriotic volunteer obligation, with the Army National Guard, as a recruiter, continues the legacy.

Family

Upon Dg's separation from the U.S. Air Force in 1988 she moved to Sacramento, California, where she began her state service and continued her passion for community activism and advocacy. She retired and moved to Liberty Lake, Washington in December of 2015 to be with her family, including four young grandchildren. Her commitment to fostering the public's connection to its government has never changed.
